On April 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Oslo for an official visit aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s security partnerships. This trip follows his earlier engagement in Berlin, where he discussed military aid with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
During his time in Norway, Zelensky is set to meet with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Crown Prince Haakon, as well as members of the Norwegian parliament. These discussions are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral relations and security cooperation.
President Zelensky indicated that a key outcome of the visit will be the signing of a bilateral agreement designed to strengthen Ukraine’s security framework. He emphasized the importance of ongoing diplomatic efforts, stating,
“We continue active diplomacy with our partners to protect lives and move closer to real and guaranteed peace.”
The visit to Norway comes on the heels of Zelensky’s earlier meetings in Germany, where he secured commitments for new military assistance packages. These packages are reported to include air defense systems, long-range weaponry, drones, and munitions, reflecting a significant step in international support for Ukraine amid ongoing conflicts.
