Ukrainian Government Approves Independence Day Cash Payments for 2026

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new regulation outlining cash payments to be distributed in connection with the country’s Independence Day in 2026. The maximum amount of assistance will be set at 3,100 hryvnias, while the minimum will be 450 hryvnias.

This decision, formalized in resolution No. 602 on May 13, 2026, specifies the payment amounts for various categories of citizens, including:

  • war veterans,
  • individuals with disabilities due to war,
  • participants injured during the Revolution of Dignity,
  • other groups as stipulated by laws concerning social protection for veterans and victims of Nazi persecution.

Payments are scheduled to be disbursed by August 24, 2026, with the amount varying based on the recipient’s category.

Individuals with disabilities resulting from war, as well as former child prisoners of concentration camps and ghettos who hold disability status, will receive amounts ranging from 2,700 to 3,100 hryvnias, depending on their disability group: Group I will receive 3,100 hryvnias, Group II will receive 2,900 hryvnias, and Group III will receive 2,700 hryvnias.

Combat participants, injured Revolution of Dignity participants, and certain categories of former prisoners of Nazi camps, along with children born in places of forced detention, are set to receive a payment of 1,000 hryvnias.

Individuals recognized for their exceptional service to the nation will be eligible for the maximum payment of 3,100 hryvnias.

Families of deceased war veterans and defenders of Ukraine, as well as spouses of certain deceased individuals who have not remarried, will receive 650 hryvnias.

Other war participants, former camp prisoners, individuals forcibly taken for labor, and additional specified categories will receive 450 hryvnias.

The Ukrainian government has approved a structured payment system for Independence Day in 2026, allocating varying amounts to different categories of citizens, including veterans and individuals with disabilities. Payments will be distributed by August 24, 2026, based on specific eligibility criteria.
