Kyivstar, a leading telecommunications company in Ukraine, in collaboration with the ‘Return Alive’ Foundation, has successfully concluded its seventh joint project, dubbed ‘Mission 077’. This initiative has raised over 77 million UAH to enhance communication capabilities for the Ukrainian military.
The funds collected through this campaign are intended to provide essential communication tools that facilitate coordination, expedite decision-making, and improve operational effectiveness. The project was supported by 1+1 Media.
Alexander Komarov, CEO of Kyivstar, remarked on the significance of this initiative, stating, “We have completed another important project in support of the Ukrainian military. This time, we have delivered communication equipment that directly impacts their safety and operational efficiency.” He emphasized that reliable communication gives military personnel a distinct advantage.
Mission 077 was executed in three phases, ensuring that four army corps defending Ukraine’s northern border received robust communication systems. The military units were equipped with comprehensive sets of equipment designed for autonomous operation.
The equipment included infrastructure for uninterrupted and secure communication, specialized logistics transport, and vehicles for the rapid deployment of LTE networks within the operational areas of the corps.
In addition to the ‘Return Alive’ Foundation, the project involved collaboration with the Main Directorate of Communications and Cybersecurity of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleg Karpenko, Deputy Director of the ‘Return Alive’ Foundation, noted, “We assisted four corps in enhancing their communication systems at all levels, from primary command posts to combat units and direct crews.”
The project provided necessary technology and equipment, including interactive panels, charging stations, satellite systems, landline phones, and tablets. Specialized vehicles were also supplied for the rapid deployment, maintenance, and servicing of mobile communication points.
The successful implementation of the project was made possible through contributions from concerned citizens, Kyivstar subscribers, and socially responsible businesses. Subscribers who activated the ‘Superpower: Help the Armed Forces of Ukraine+’ service or SMS subscription contributed nearly 22.5 million UAH. Additionally, Kyivstar allocated 20 million UAH from its own charitable fund to support the initiative.
Yefim Ivanchuk, commander of the 120th separate communications battalion, highlighted the critical role of communication in military operations, stating, “Communication is the fundamental system for managing troops at observation points, company, battalion, brigade, or corps headquarters. Communication tools are our ‘eyes’ and ‘voice’ over the radio. Without them, we cannot, for example, launch drones, conduct streams, and accomplish approximately 80% of all combat tasks.”
Kyivstar and the 'Return Alive' Foundation have completed 'Mission 077', raising over 77 million UAH to enhance communication for four army corps. The initiative underscores the importance of reliable communication in military operations.
