Ukrainian President Confirms Ongoing Conflict and Military Developments

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported that combat operations continue along the front lines, indicating that Russia has no intention of ceasing hostilities. In an evening address, he noted the persistent military activity.

“Today, there was no silence on the front; there were combat operations. We see that Russia is preparing for new attacks, unfortunately,” he stated.

Zelensky revealed that he convened a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff, where the primary focus was on Russian airstrikes and the measures needed to protect Ukraine from this threat. He emphasized that Ukraine is developing its own technological solutions and alternatives to counter such weaponry, aiming to respond effectively to Russian aggression.

He also highlighted the United States’ commitment to prioritizing the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, despite its ongoing military engagement in Iran.

“Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, reported on the outcomes of meetings in America. There were discussions at both the political and technological levels with American companies. The U.S. remains engaged in the diplomatic process,” Zelensky remarked.

Additionally, Zelensky noted that 20 countries are collaborating with Ukraine at various levels to establish agreements related to drone technology.

“We have political agreements with some countries, and contracts with manufacturers are forthcoming. Our military expertise is yielding results. We are preparing to sign political agreements, including a Drone Deal with Canada, which significantly enhances our security cooperation,” he added.

Negotiations are also underway with European and U.S. partners regarding the production of anti-ballistic missiles for air defense systems within Ukraine.

“It is preferable to produce independently or in collaboration with those who can rapidly scale production and maintain technological parity. This is one of the most complex and strategic tasks for Ukraine—to manufacture all types of air defense systems and necessary weaponry either domestically or in partnership with Europe,” the President stated.

Zelensky further announced plans for military reform, set to commence in June, and expressed anticipation for the first installments from a European support package totaling 90 billion euros.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed ongoing military operations at the front and outlined new defense initiatives, including drone agreements and air defense production. He also announced plans for military reform and expected support from Europe.
