Ukrainian Defense Minister Reports Decrease in Military Casualties

The Ukrainian Defense Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced a notable reduction in military casualties in recent months, including deaths, injuries, and missing personnel. This development was shared during an interview with the YouTube channel Pressing.

Fedorov explained that a new performance evaluation system for military units has been implemented to encourage this trend. The assessment is based on three key metrics: the area captured by Ukrainian forces, the territory lost, and the ratio of Ukrainian casualties to those of the Russian military.

“There is a very complex formula. For instance, we initially calculate a ratio of ten enemy losses for every one of ours, which gives a coefficient of one. Ideally, we aim for a ratio of 20 to 1, meaning we want to eliminate more than 200 Russians per square kilometer,” Fedorov elaborated.

In May, Ukrainian forces reportedly neutralized 252 Russian soldiers per square kilometer, a significant increase from 67 in October of the previous year. Fedorov characterized this trend as highly encouraging.

“This rating system motivates the units that become aware of it. Not everyone knows about it yet, but those who do and recognize their standing begin to work diligently to reduce casualties. The impact of this initiative is invaluable,” the Defense Minister noted.

He also mentioned that the combat performance evaluation will be integrated into the existing “E-Ball” system, which rewards brigades with a favorable loss balance with additional points.

“This can be seen as a new phase in the development of ‘E-Balls.’ I am very pleased that we are launching it, and I believe it will be operational within a month, leading to further reductions in our personnel losses through this approach. Thus, while their mobilization decreases, our effectiveness in neutralizing enemy forces increases,” Fedorov stated.

Additionally, the Russian army’s casualties have been exacerbated by the Middle Strike program, which targets not only infantry but also higher-ranking officers and specialists involved in electronic warfare, drones, and other areas.

“We have ceased purchasing short-range artillery and are now focusing solely on long-range capabilities. There is a plan in place to enhance our artillery’s effectiveness in destroying enemy positions and halting their advances,” Fedorov concluded.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported a decrease in military casualties due to a new performance evaluation system aimed at improving combat effectiveness. The initiative has shown promising results, with a significant increase in enemy neutralization rates.
