An explosion occurred in a residential building on the street of Defenders of Ukraine in Cherkasy on the evening of May 2, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The incident was reported to local police around 8:40 PM.
According to Zoya Vovk, a spokesperson for the regional National Police, the explosion led to a fire in the two-story building. Emergency services, including forensic experts and bomb technicians, are currently on-site to investigate the incident.
“As a result of the explosion, a fire broke out in the two-story building on Defenders of Ukraine Street. Preliminary reports indicate that two people have died,” Vovk stated.
Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion, and a legal classification of the event is being considered. Vovk added, “Police are establishing the details of the explosion. Information will be updated as it becomes available.”
