On June 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the United Kingdom for an official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and discussing security cooperation amid ongoing tensions with Russia.
Zelensky announced via Telegram that he would engage in bilateral talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as well as meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in a format known as E3 plus Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of these discussions, stating that his teams had already made significant preparations.
“It is crucial to discuss and agree on key issues at the leadership level,” Zelensky remarked, highlighting the primary focus on Ukraine’s defense in the context of the ongoing war. He noted that increased collaboration on security, particularly in air defense, is essential for the safety of all of Europe.
Additionally, Zelensky is scheduled to meet with His Majesty King Charles III, further underscoring the significance of this visit. He expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom and its partners for their tangible support in enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities and applying pressure on Russia to cease its aggression. “Russia must end this war,” he stated.
