A police officer has died following a drone strike in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine, where law enforcement was responding to a call regarding an unexploded drone. The incident, which also injured three other officers and a civilian, occurred on June 7 near the village of Chystovodivka in the Izium district.
According to preliminary reports, the police were engaged in neutralizing a discovered explosive device, specifically an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that had not detonated. While bomb disposal experts were on-site, a hostile drone struck their service vehicle.
The impact resulted in the immediate death of one officer from the explosives unit, while three additional officers and a civilian were injured. All those affected are currently receiving medical assistance.
Authorities have initiated a criminal investigation into the incident, categorizing it under Article 438, which pertains to war crimes, in the Ukrainian Criminal Code.
