Ukrainian defense advisor Serhiy “Flesh” Beskrestnov narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by Russian forces using a Shahed-type drone. The attack occurred overnight, with the drone crashing into the wall of his residence.
“This morning, the Russians tried to kill me. The guided Shahed struck the wall of my house. My home is no longer standing. I was injured, but the main thing is that I miraculously survived,” Beskrestnov reported.
The advisor indicated that he had anticipated such an attempt on his life, reflecting the ongoing threats faced by key figures in Ukraine’s defense sector.
Beskrestnov later disclosed that a total of four Shahed drones were launched during this assault.
In January, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the strengthening of the technological defense unit, appointing Beskrestnov as an advisor on technological matters. Fedorov emphasized the need for expertise in countering drone threats, stating, “We are enhancing this direction with individuals who have already proven their effectiveness. Flesh is one of the strongest practical experts in the fields of drones, electronic warfare, and enemy decision analysis.”
Fedorov highlighted Beskrestnov’s extensive knowledge in radio communications, electronic warfare systems, and reconnaissance. He was among the first to publicly report on Russia’s use of FPV drones equipped with machine vision and Shahed missiles.
The primary focus of Beskrestnov’s role is to develop systemic solutions to counteract Russian strike and reconnaissance drones, aiming to diminish the effectiveness of enemy attacks and protect Ukrainian military personnel.
