The Ukrainian military is set to receive an unprecedented supply of approximately 1,500 motorcycles this year, marking a significant increase in logistical support for its operations. Six different companies will participate in the delivery, reflecting a competitive procurement process.
The Defense Procurement Agency has finalized contracts for these motorcycles, a figure that is three times higher than last year’s orders. This competitive bidding has resulted in a cost reduction of nearly 12 million hryvnias, enhancing the efficiency of military spending.
“The presence of six proposals within a single procurement indicates a competitive market. For the state, this means the ability to acquire necessary equipment under better conditions and to redirect saved resources toward additional support for the Defense Forces,” stated Arsen Zhumadilov, director of the Defense Procurement Agency.
Motorcycles have emerged as one of the most sought-after vehicles on the front lines, alongside pickup trucks. Their lightweight design and mobility enable military personnel to navigate challenging terrains and execute operational tasks effectively.
Military personnel interviewed by RBC-Ukraine emphasized the versatility of motorcycles, which are utilized for various logistical functions. These include transporting troops, deploying drone operators to combat positions, and conducting reconnaissance missions.
