Trump Indicates Willingness to Engage with Iran’s Mojtaba Khamenei

Former President Donald Trump has asserted that Mojtaba Khamenei plays a significant role in decision-making processes in Iran, particularly concerning the potential cessation of hostilities. Trump’s comments reflect an acknowledgment of Khamenei’s influence following the recent loss of his father, Ali Khamenei, the former Supreme Leader of Iran, and other family members due to Israeli airstrikes.

Trump noted the respect Mojtaba Khamenei commands within Iran, stating, “They hold him in very high regard.” He expressed a desire for personal engagement, saying, “I would like to meet with him.” The former president indicated openness to dialogue with Iranian leadership, adding, “I would be happy to meet with anyone. I would like to meet with him, and we will probably meet at some point, depending on how things unfold.” However, he did not provide details on any preparations for potential negotiations.

Regarding Mojtaba Khamenei’s current situation, The New York Times previously reported that he has been in hiding under increased security following strikes from the U.S. and Israel. Sources indicate that he has sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment, including surgeries on his leg and arm. Additionally, facial burns and lip injuries have reportedly affected his ability to speak, preventing him from recording public video or audio messages.

Donald Trump has expressed a willingness to engage with Mojtaba Khamenei, emphasizing his significant role in Iran's decision-making. Reports indicate Khamenei is currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained during recent conflicts.
