Russian Drone Strike Hits Kharkiv Residential Area, Injuring Three

On the evening of May 9, Russian forces launched a drone attack on the Industrial District of Kharkiv, as reported by Oleg Synegubov, the head of the regional military administration.

The strike reportedly impacted a nine-story residential building, causing injuries to three individuals. Among the affected was an eight-year-old boy who experienced acute stress reaction due to the attack. Medical personnel are currently providing necessary care to him and the other victims.

This incident follows an announcement by former U.S. President Donald Trump on May 8, claiming that a three-day ceasefire had been agreed upon between Russia and Ukraine. Trump stated that the ceasefire would take place from May 9 to May 11 and would include both a halt to hostilities and a prisoner exchange of 1,000 individuals from each side. Both Kyiv and Moscow later confirmed the agreement.

Russian military forces have been consistently targeting Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure using various weapons, including drones, missiles, and artillery systems. These attacks have been classified by Ukrainian authorities and international organizations as war crimes, emphasizing their deliberate nature.

Strikes on essential services and healthcare facilities aim to deprive civilians of electricity, heating, water supply, communication, and medical assistance, which are seen as acts indicative of genocidal intent.

In contrast, Russian leadership denies that its military is intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure, claiming that it does not aim to harm non-combatants or destroy hospitals, schools, and other vital facilities.

A recent drone strike in Kharkiv by Russian forces injured three people, including a child, amid claims of a temporary ceasefire. The ongoing attacks on civilian areas continue to raise concerns about war crimes.
