Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently met with Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, where he briefed him on the ongoing Russian attacks and the current situation at the front. Zelensky emphasized the importance of a long-term partnership aimed at strengthening the defense capabilities of both nations.
In a message shared via Telegram, Zelensky expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Haakon for the meeting. He stated, “I informed him about the continuous Russian strikes and the situation at the front. Russia continues its terror against people and lives. That is why, together with our partners, we are doing everything possible to strengthen air defense and enhance protection.”
According to Zelensky, Ukraine and Norway are developing a strategic partnership in security and defense, with a focus on a mutually beneficial long-term collaboration. He noted that this partnership would bolster the defense capabilities of both countries, particularly through the development and implementation of a Drone Deal.
“I thank Norway, the government, and all the people for their support of Ukraine. I appreciate the allocation of €9 billion in assistance for this year. This is crucial for Ukraine,” Zelensky added.
Earlier on April 14, Zelensky visited Berlin, where he met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. During this visit, it was announced that Germany would provide Ukraine with new military aid packages, which will include air defense systems, long-range weapons, drones, and ammunition.
Later that evening, Zelensky arrived in Oslo, where he met with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The two leaders signed a declaration on defense partnership during this meeting.
On April 15, Zelensky met with Masud Gharahani, the Speaker of the Storting, and leaders of political parties in Norway. They discussed preparations for the Drone Deal between the two countries and the establishment of a Special Tribunal regarding Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as well as necessary steps for its implementation.
Following his visit to Norway, Zelensky is scheduled to travel to Italy on the evening of April 15, where he will meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
