The United Kingdom has announced a groundbreaking initiative to supply Ukraine with over 120,000 drones of various types this year. This announcement was made ahead of the 34th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, scheduled to take place in Berlin.
Representatives from around 50 countries, including the defense ministers of Ukraine and Germany, as well as NATO’s Secretary General, will participate in the upcoming meeting. The new package will feature thousands of long-range strike drones, along with reconnaissance and logistics drones, some of which have already demonstrated effectiveness in combat situations in Ukraine. Deliveries of these systems have commenced this month.
The UK government emphasizes the critical role that drones play in modern warfare, being utilized for both counterattacks by Ukrainian forces and for defense against Russian strikes. In March 2026 alone, Russia launched approximately 6,500 strike drones against Ukraine, a significant increase from February.
British Defense Minister John Healey stated that London remains committed to supporting Ukraine as the conflict enters its fifth year. He noted that the new drone package will significantly enhance the capabilities of Ukrainian forces to protect civilians and counter Russian aggression.
This funding initiative is part of a broader military support program from the UK, valued at £3 billion annually. Additionally, London plans to provide Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of artillery shells and thousands of missiles for air defense systems.
A substantial portion of the investments will benefit British companies, including Tekever, Windracers, and Malloy Aeronautics. This is expected to foster growth in the UK drone technology sector and create new jobs.
This announcement also follows a £500 million air defense assistance package that the UK introduced in February during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
The UK has announced a historic drone supply package for Ukraine, set to deliver over 120,000 drones this year. This initiative underscores the UK's ongoing military support amid the ongoing conflict.
