The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has issued a warning regarding a fraudulent email campaign that mimics official correspondence from the bank. The emails, which contain malicious attachments, are designed to deceive recipients into clicking links and downloading harmful files.
On May 21, the NBU’s press service alerted the public via Telegram about the scam. According to the announcement, the fraudulent messages are sent from various email addresses that appear to represent the central bank, featuring a design similar to that of the official NBU website.
In these emails, the perpetrators encourage recipients to follow a link and download an archive purportedly containing important documents. However, the archive is actually embedded with malware intended to provide remote access to the victims’ computers.
The NBU has strongly advised individuals not to click on any links or download files from these suspicious emails. Additionally, the bank emphasized that its employees use only official corporate email accounts, which will always include the domain @bank.gov.ua.
The National Bank of Ukraine has alerted citizens to a phishing scheme involving fraudulent emails that imitate official communications. The bank advises the public to avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from these messages.
