Ukraine Secures Military Support at Defense Meeting in Brussels

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced significant military support during a recent meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Brussels on June 18, 2026. Nine countries confirmed contributions to the PURL program, which aims to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

President Zelensky revealed that the support includes over $1 billion worth of Patriot missile systems. He emphasized the urgency of preparing pilots for additional F-16 aircraft that were also discussed during the session.

“Putin does not want to stop, and all his talk about wanting peace is a lie. All partners, all Europeans feel this. But everyone is confident that together we will stop him. The two key things are: together and stop him. We need air defense and funding for the army. Partners agree, and we will all work on this,”

the president stated.

Zelensky also noted that the European Union plans to intensify sanctions against Russia as part of the ongoing response to the conflict.

The meeting reflects a unified stance among Ukraine’s allies, emphasizing the need for continued military assistance in the face of ongoing aggression.

During a defense meeting in Brussels, Ukraine secured over $1 billion in military aid, including Patriot missile systems, as President Zelensky called for urgent preparations for F-16 pilots. The EU is also set to enhance sanctions against Russia.
