Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared June 11 as the Day of the Drone Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, highlighting their substantial contributions over the past year.
In a recent evening address, Zelensky noted that the newly established drone units have successfully targeted Russian assets valued at nearly $40 billion.
“Ukrainians have proven that through technology, creativity, and courage, we can change the course of war. We can achieve targets that were previously either unreachable for conventional weapons or extremely difficult, requiring vast resources. In just one year since the formation of the drone units, we have struck Russian targets of various levels worth almost $40 billion,”
he stated.
The president emphasized the diverse types of strikes carried out, asserting that each contributes to preserving lives. He praised the drone units as a model for many other armies, particularly for their mid-strike capabilities. He indicated that Russian military logistics are now vulnerable to Ukrainian drones across occupied territories, and that the impact is being felt by the enemy.
Zelensky reiterated a commitment to further strengthening the drone forces, expressing gratitude to the soldiers and all components of Ukraine’s defense and security forces for their coordinated efforts.
