Ukraine’s military leadership has announced a new directive mandating the rotation of soldiers in frontline positions every two months, with an additional month allocated for transition. This decision, communicated by General Oleksandr Syrskyi, aims to enhance operational effectiveness and soldier welfare.
In a statement, General Syrskyi emphasized the importance of addressing recruitment and mobilization challenges. He noted ongoing efforts to implement President Volodymyr Zelensky’s initiative to shift the military’s staffing model from a mobilization-based system to a contract-based one.
President Zelensky also revealed plans for a comprehensive army reform set to commence in June 2026. Among the proposed changes are increased salaries for military personnel and the introduction of special contracts for infantry soldiers, which will offer compensation ranging from 250,000 to 400,000 hryvnias. These reforms aim to facilitate a gradual release of conscripted soldiers while improving recruitment strategies.
