The White House emphasized that Vance did not leave for Switzerland on Thursday evening, but expressed hope that technical discussions could commence as part of a 60-day process as soon as possible. Later, Vance indicated that the negotiations would occur but did not specify a timeframe, stating, “We plan to go to Switzerland. I do not know exactly when.” He suggested that the technical talks might begin over the weekend.
Following the White House announcement, the Swiss Foreign Ministry reiterated that the negotiations between the US and Iran would not take place on Friday.
