Recent drone and artillery attacks by Russian forces have led to temporary power outages in multiple regions of Ukraine, including Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson. The National Energy Company of Ukraine (Ukrenergo) reported these disruptions via Telegram.
In their statement, Ukrenergo indicated that emergency restoration efforts have commenced wherever security conditions permit. They emphasized that energy workers are striving to restore power to all affected consumers as swiftly as possible.
“Everywhere that security conditions currently allow, emergency restoration work has already begun. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power to all consumers as quickly as possible,” the statement noted.
Ukrenergo also observed an upward trend in electricity consumption, with levels recorded at 3.7% higher than the same time on the previous working day, Friday. This increase has been attributed to colder temperatures across most regions of Ukraine and overcast weather in the western, central, and northern parts, which has diminished the effectiveness of household solar power systems.
“The reason for the changes is the drop in temperature in most regions of Ukraine, as well as cloudy weather in the western, central, and northern areas, which leads to lower efficiency of household solar power systems and a corresponding increase in energy consumption from the general grid,” the company explained.
On April 19, the daily peak in electricity consumption was recorded in the evening, matching the peak level observed on the previous Sunday, April 12.
Ukrenergo has urged consumers to practice energy conservation, particularly in the evening hours, and recommended limiting the use of high-power appliances from 18:00 to 22:00. They also advised that the situation within the energy system could change, and urged the public to check local energy company pages for the latest information on power outages.
Recent Russian military actions have caused significant power outages in several Ukrainian regions. Ukrenergo is actively working to restore service while urging consumers to conserve energy during peak hours.
