Pope Francis, born Robert Prevo in Chicago, encountered an unusual situation when he attempted to change his banking details over the phone. During the call, he identified himself as the Pope, but the bank employee did not believe his claim.
The incident was shared by Father Tom McCarthy, a close friend of the Pope, who recounted how the Pontiff requested to update his phone number and address linked to his bank account. However, the employee insisted that he must visit a branch in person to make these changes.
When the Pope explained that he was unable to come in because he is the Pope, the employee abruptly ended the call. Fortunately, the matter was later resolved with the assistance of another priest who had connections with the bank’s president.
Details about the bank employee who hung up on the Pope have not been disclosed. Father McCarthy humorously noted the situation, saying, “Can you imagine being known as the person who hung up on the Pope?”
