Man Arrested for Selling Vehicles Misappropriated from Humanitarian Aid in Ukraine

A 28-year-old resident of Osiy village in Zakarpattia has been arrested for allegedly selling vehicles that were imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces. The vehicles in question include a SsangYong, a Hyundai Santa Fe, and a Mitsubishi, which were entrusted to him by a charitable organization for safekeeping.

According to investigative reports, the suspect negotiated the sale of these vehicles for over $10,000. Between April and May, he received a deposit and arranged for the actual sale of the vehicles. In June, law enforcement officials documented the transfer of funds from buyers to the suspect. Following this, he attempted to evade capture but was quickly apprehended.

The estimated market value of the three vehicles exceeds 900,000 UAH. The suspect faces charges for the sale of humanitarian aid items for profit, a significant offense under the current martial law in Ukraine (Article 201-2, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Following a prosecutor’s request, the court has ordered the suspect to be held in custody. However, an alternative measure was set by the Irshava District Court, allowing for bail set at over 700,000 UAH. Reports indicate that the suspect has already posted bail.

During authorized searches, law enforcement officials seized documentation and cash. The vehicles have been confiscated and placed in a secure location, currently recognized as material evidence in the ongoing case.

A man in Zakarpattia has been arrested for selling vehicles meant for humanitarian aid, facing serious charges under Ukrainian law. The vehicles, valued at over 900,000 UAH, were intended for military support.
