Macron Invites Middle Eastern Leaders and Zelensky to G7 Summit in Evian

French President Emmanuel Macron has extended invitations to Middle Eastern leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the upcoming G7 summit, scheduled to take place from June 15 to 17 in the resort town of Evian, France.

According to reports from Le Monde, Zelensky’s participation is seen as crucial for reinforcing consensus among G7 nations regarding support for Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia. Macron emphasized the importance of this dialogue, stating, “President Volodymyr Zelensky’s presence is vital for us as we need to restore consensus within the G7 on various aspects of the war against Russia, including the necessity for negotiations.”

In addition to Zelensky, leaders from four Arab nations—Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates—will be invited to a separate session aimed at addressing the conflict initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Macron noted that discussions will focus on the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has significant implications for global economies, particularly concerning rising fuel prices, as well as negotiations related to Iran.

The G7 summit in Evian will host leaders including Ukraine's Zelensky and representatives from four Arab nations to discuss pressing geopolitical issues. Macron aims to strengthen support for Ukraine and address economic impacts stemming from regional conflicts.
