In the Kropyvnytskyi region, a private home was damaged during a Russian drone attack on the night of May 18. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Andriy Raikovych, the head of the regional military administration, confirmed that firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze that affected the roof of the house.
“The roof was on fire. Firefighters promptly extinguished the fire,” Raikovych stated.
Simultaneously, the city of Odesa experienced a significant assault involving explosive drones. This attack injured an 11-year-old boy and a 59-year-old man, as several residential buildings sustained damage. The head of the Odesa Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, reported that the roofs of three-story buildings were destroyed, alongside damage to a single-story house, a municipal lyceum, and a kindergarten.
Following the initial strikes, further assaults targeted Odesa’s infrastructure in the early morning hours, although no additional injuries were reported. Emergency services and municipal workers are currently addressing the aftermath of these attacks.
In Rivne, air defense units successfully intercepted Russian aerial targets during a nighttime alert on May 18. Oleksandr Koval, the head of the Rivne regional military administration, indicated that defense forces and other agencies were on-site and that there were no casualties or damage to infrastructure.
Odesa and its surrounding areas were under air raid alerts from 00:46 to 01:40, as Russian drones were detected moving towards the region from the Black Sea. Initially, the Ukrainian Air Forces reported the presence of drone groups heading for Odesa.
Additionally, the city of Dnipro faced a large-scale attack beginning on the evening of May 17, involving both drones and missiles. At least 18 individuals were injured, with reports of damage to residential buildings and warehouses. The Ukrainian Air Forces noted multiple waves of attacks, including the use of Shahed drones targeting the Dnipro region.
As of 7:00 AM on May 18, among the injured were a two-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy, both receiving outpatient care. Eight individuals, including four women and four men, were hospitalized, with their conditions assessed as moderate. Medical personnel are providing necessary treatment.
