Ukraine’s Government Plans Reform of Military Compensation Ahead of TCC Changes

The Ukrainian government is set to initiate a phased reform of the Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support (TCC) alongside a restructuring of military compensation. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced these plans during a question-and-answer session in the Verkhovna Rada.

Svyrydenko emphasized the importance of the TCC reform, noting that many European countries are unfamiliar with the concept due to their lack of experience with war. She stated, “We are indeed working on the TCC reform. Fortunately for them, they do not know what war is.”

She explained that the first step in this reform process will be an overhaul of military pay, which is currently under the purview of the Minister of Defense. “This is the first thing we are working on right now,” she added.

Following the compensation reform, the government plans to introduce new contracts for infantry and assault troops, as well as adjustments to service terms. Svyrydenko noted, “Next will be changes to service terms, leading us into the TCC reform, which is the most complex reform and the most challenging issue facing Ukrainian society today. The Minister of Defense is actively working on this.”

The Prime Minister assured that the government will share the results of the initial phase of the military compensation reform in the coming weeks, paving the way for subsequent steps in the reform process.

The Ukrainian government is preparing to implement significant reforms in military compensation and the Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko outlined the steps involved, emphasizing the urgency and complexity of these changes.
