In Moscow, ambassadors from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany conveyed the peace conditions for Ukraine to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin. This meeting comes amid increasing tensions and disinformation campaigns related to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
During the discussions, the ambassadors condemned the recent escalation by Russia and highlighted the need for a constructive dialogue. They reiterated the key points from a joint statement made by the leaders of the E3 countries on June 7, which outlined five conditions for peace.
The ambassadors also expressed support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s call for direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of active participation from the United States and European nations to achieve a ceasefire and advance further discussions.
The joint statement by the leaders of the UK, France, Germany, and Ukraine, issued after a summit in London on June 7, condemned the extensive Russian missile and drone attacks, including repeated use of the ‘Oreshnik’ drones, and criticized the reckless incursions of Russian drones into NATO territory.
Prior to the London summit, diplomatic exchanges took place between Kyiv and Moscow. In late May, President Zelensky sent a message to President Putin through Roman Abramovich, expressing readiness for a bilateral summit—the first such meeting in over four years.
On June 5, Putin responded to Zelensky’s letter during a speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. However, instead of addressing peace conditions, he focused on personal grievances.
The recent meeting between European diplomats and Russian officials focused on presenting peace conditions for Ukraine amid escalating tensions. The discussions highlighted the need for direct negotiations and emphasized the ongoing challenges posed by Russian military actions.
