Zelensky reported a high interception rate of Russian drones, stating that Ukraine successfully shoots down 90-93% of Shahed drones. He highlighted ongoing collaborations with international allies to enhance missile defense capabilities, particularly against ballistic threats.
In his remarks, Zelensky praised recent strikes on Russian oil infrastructure and military logistics, asserting that these actions significantly impact Russia’s aggressive capabilities. He criticized Russia for prolonging the conflict, suggesting that peace could have been achieved if Moscow had chosen a different path. Additionally, he pointed out Russia’s recent threats towards neighboring countries, particularly Armenia, in light of its European integration aspirations.
He remarked, “What Russia says about Armenia is not solely about Armenia. Everyone needs to think more about security and take collective actions to ensure political partnerships are effective and that modern defense capabilities are developed. Economic ties must also be diversified and strengthened.”
Zelensky expressed hope that the European Union would take a firm and timely stance on these issues, stressing the importance of supporting all of Russia’s neighbors, including Armenia, Moldova, the Baltic states, and Azerbaijan. He underscored that Europe cannot afford to lose any nation in the region.
Additionally, he thanked Azerbaijan for its support of Ukraine’s energy sector and mentioned ongoing cooperation between Kyiv and Baku to share security expertise.
The relationship between Armenia and Russia remains strained due to Yerevan’s pivot towards the West, with Moscow criticizing Armenia’s pro-Western policies and imposing restrictions on the import of certain Armenian goods.
