Ukrainian President Zelensky Urges Swift Action in Letter to Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed sending a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, emphasizing the need for immediate action regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Zelensky noted that it is unusual for leaders of different nations to communicate directly through a letter addressed to both the President and Congress of the United States. He stated, “The situation now is such that we must act promptly and effectively.”

The Ukrainian leader highlighted the necessity for the United States to listen to Ukraine’s concerns, while also acknowledging that significant global attention is currently focused on the war in Iran.

He remarked, “We need to stop the war here in Europe—a very bloody conflict that has been ongoing at a full-scale level for five years. The sooner we can provide more protection against ballistic threats, the sooner we can make diplomacy work.”

Zelensky underscored that as long as Russia continues to rely on missile attacks, its interest in diplomacy is insincere. He stated, “We must correct this, and we can only do this together with America. Ukraine is grateful for all the support from the United States and will be even more grateful for a just peace and guaranteed security. All of this is possible if there is enough determination.”

Contextually, Zelensky’s letter comes amid a critical shortage of air defense systems in Ukraine, exacerbated by intensified attacks and public threats from the Kremlin regarding potential strikes on Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for urgent assistance from the United States in a recent letter to President Trump, highlighting the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the need for enhanced air defense capabilities. His appeal underscores the critical situation facing Ukraine as it seeks to address both military threats and diplomatic efforts.
