Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Russian forces are preparing new missile and drone strikes against Ukraine. This statement follows a meeting with senior military and intelligence officials, where it was revealed that Ukrainian intelligence has obtained documents indicating planned attacks targeting key decision-making centers, including political and military sites.
In a message on Telegram, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is aware of these developments and is actively determining targets for potential retaliatory strikes against Russia. He emphasized that Ukraine will respond to each attack that results in loss of life, particularly focusing on the Russian oil industry and military production facilities.
During a recent assault on May 13-14, Russian forces reportedly deployed 1,567 drones and 56 missiles of various types against Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attacks on May 14 involved 56 missiles and 675 strike drones, primarily targeting Kyiv. The previous day, the western regions of Ukraine were the focus, with 753 drones launched, of which 710 were intercepted.
Casualties from the May 14 attack in Kyiv included 24 individuals, three of whom were children, all of whom lost their lives in the Darniytskyi district. In response to the tragedy, Kyiv authorities declared May 15 a day of mourning.
President Zelensky reported that the recent Russian offensive damaged 180 structures across Ukraine, including over 50 residential buildings. In a related statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that their military conducted strikes on airfields and infrastructure used to support Ukrainian forces, describing these actions as retaliation for alleged Ukrainian attacks on civilian targets within Russia.
