Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Rome on Wednesday, April 15, as part of a broader diplomatic initiative across Europe. His spokesperson, Serhiy Nikiforov, confirmed the visit, during which Zelensky is scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella.
This trip follows Zelensky’s recent engagements in Germany, where he and Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed enhancing defense cooperation. Prior to that, Zelensky visited Norway, meeting with several high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
In a statement on social media platform X, Zelensky emphasized that strengthening air defense collaboration is currently Ukraine’s primary diplomatic focus. He stated, “We need air defense missiles every day—every day the Russians continue their strikes on our cities.” This underscores Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to secure military support from European allies amid the ongoing conflict.
President Zelensky's visit to Rome is part of a series of diplomatic meetings aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. His discussions with European leaders highlight the urgency of securing military support in the face of continued aggression from Russia.
