Ukraine Faces Renewed Assault as President Warns of Possible Attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has alerted the public to the potential for a large-scale missile strike by Russia, expected to occur overnight. In his evening address, he emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and responding to air raid alerts.

Recent military reports indicate that Ukraine endured a significant attack, with Russian forces launching 73 missiles and 656 drones. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted 40 missiles and 602 drones during the assault. The primary target of these attacks was Kyiv, but other regions, including Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Poltava, also experienced strikes.

According to President Zelensky, the recent barrage resulted in the deaths of 22 individuals, with an additional 130 sustaining injuries. In Dnipro, a four-story residential building was partially destroyed, leading to 16 fatalities and 42 injuries. In Kyiv, six people lost their lives, and 90 others were injured due to the strikes, which impacted residential areas, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has claimed responsibility for the strikes, stating that they targeted defense industry facilities and fuel and transportation infrastructure in Ukraine during the early hours of June 2. They asserted that all designated targets were successfully hit.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned of a potential new wave of Russian missile strikes, following a recent attack that resulted in significant casualties. The assault, which primarily targeted urban areas, has raised concerns about ongoing military aggression from Russia.
