Ukraine has refrained from long-range military actions for two days, coinciding with a decrease in large-scale assaults from Russia. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that should Moscow resume full-scale warfare, Kyiv will respond in kind.
President Zelensky noted, “It is encouraging that, as of today, there have been no mass attacks—neither missile strikes nor aerial bombardments. However, there has been no calm in frontline areas and communities near the front. The Russians continue their assault activities in key directions. There have been shelling incidents and various types of drone strikes along the front line.”
In the last two days, Ukrainian forces have faced over 150 assault actions, more than a hundred shelling incidents, and nearly 10,000 kamikaze drone strikes, according to the president.
Zelensky emphasized that the Russian military is not adhering to any form of silence on the front. He stated, “All our Ukrainian units are responding in a mirrored fashion, defending our positions as needed.”
He further explained that Ukraine’s restraint in long-range responses was a direct result of the absence of mass attacks from Russia. However, he warned that if the enemy resumes long-range strikes, Ukraine’s response will be immediate.
“In the future, we will continue to react in a mirrored manner. If the Russians decide to return to full-scale warfare, our sanctions will be immediate and impactful. The distance is becoming less significant, as we have demonstrated with our long-range capabilities. Ukraine always acts clearly and honestly in this regard,” Zelensky concluded.
Ukraine has temporarily suspended long-range military actions in response to a decrease in Russian assaults, but remains prepared to respond swiftly if hostilities escalate. President Zelensky affirmed that Ukrainian forces will mirror any renewed aggression from Russia.
