Ukrainian Forces Hold Steadfast Against Russian Advances in Stepnogorsk

The head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Kyrylo Budanov, reported that Russian troops have been attempting to capture Stepnogorsk in the Zaporizhzhia region for over a year, suffering significant losses in the process.

Budanov stated that despite the considerable resources allocated, Russian forces have been unable to gain control over the city. He expressed gratitude to all those involved in defending the area, emphasizing their role in preventing Russian occupiers from advancing toward Zaporizhzhia.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the special forces unit “Artan” is actively engaged in combat to thwart enemy attempts to infiltrate the urban area. Reports indicate that Russian groups have been trying to enter the southern part of the city with small units but were repelled during a series of assaults in coordination with other units.

The intelligence agency noted that during urban combat, Russian forces were pushed back from designated areas. Ukrainian troops utilized aerial reconnaissance and precise fire strikes to check buildings for enemy presence and potential explosive devices.

The commander of the “Artan” unit reported that operations were executed cohesively, and Ukrainian forces are prepared for any renewed attempts by the enemy to reclaim the city. Additionally, the Defense Forces indicated that combat engagements continue in certain sections of the front, with operations aimed at eliminating Russian forces ongoing.

Ukrainian forces continue to resist Russian attempts to capture Stepnogorsk, with significant losses reported on the Russian side. The coordinated efforts of special units and ongoing combat operations highlight the resilience of Ukrainian defenses in the region.
