The Russian military is currently advancing towards Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region, but Ukrainian defense forces are actively countering their plans.
During a recent briefing, military leaders discussed the current situation, enemy actions, and the status of their units. Special attention was given to the developments in the Kostiantynivka sector.
General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of Ukraine’s ground forces, received an operational update from Brigadier General Oleksandr Bakulin, commander of the 19th Army Corps. They assessed enemy movements, intentions, and potential scenarios for the situation.
According to Syrskyi, Russian occupation troops are maintaining constant pressure, leveraging their numerical superiority while disregarding losses. The enemy is attempting to advance using small assault groups, searching for vulnerabilities in the Ukrainian defense.
“We promptly identify these intentions, conduct active defense, and inflict significant losses on the enemy,” stated Syrskyi.
In recognition of their efforts, Syrskyi awarded drone pilots from the 3rd Border Detachment for their effective combat operations. He also expressed gratitude to the soldiers of the 19th Army Corps, the 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade, and the 156th Mechanized Brigade, as well as the 24th Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, who have been defending Chasiv Yar for over two years.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia has concentrated approximately 11,000 troops in the tactical area of Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka. Bakulin reported that although Russian groups have infiltrated various parts of Kostiantynivka, they do not control any area of the city.
