Increased Russian Military Activity Observed Near Sloviansk and Kramatorsk

In early May, Ukrainian military leader Oleksandr Syrskyi reported a notable increase in Russian military operations in the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka regions. This escalation is characterized by attempts from Russian forces to advance through small infantry groups, supported by artillery and drones.

Syrskyi highlighted that since the beginning of the week leading up to May 1, Russian troops had launched 76 attacks in the Kostiantynivka direction. He stated, “We are repelling constant attempts by Russian occupiers to establish a foothold on the outskirts of Kostiantynivka. The city is currently under a counter-diversion regime, with Ukrainian defense forces actively working to detect and eliminate enemy personnel.”

During a recent meeting with military commanders, Syrskyi discussed the current battlefield situation, logistics, and strategies to counter the Russian infantry groups. A significant focus is being placed on countering Russian drones, fortifying defensive positions, and addressing the supply needs of Ukrainian troops, particularly in terms of ammunition and other logistical support.

In a related development, on April 27, the monitoring group DeepState reported minor but significant advances by Russian forces near Kostiantynivka, indicating that they have approached the outskirts of the city from the east.

Ukrainian military officials report a significant uptick in Russian military activity in key eastern regions, particularly around Kostiantynivka. The focus remains on countering these advances through enhanced defensive measures and logistical support for Ukrainian forces.
