Ukraine’s Zelensky Warns of Russian Attempts to Involve Belarus in Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has raised alarms about Russia’s efforts to draw Belarus into the ongoing war. He reported that military infrastructure is being developed in the border areas of Belarus, including road construction and the establishment of artillery positions.

This information was shared following a briefing from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. Zelensky noted, “We are observing attempts by the Russian contingent to regroup forces, likely to address personnel shortages. This makes the increased military activity in Belarus more evident.”

“We believe that Russia will once again try to involve Belarus in its war. I have instructed the appropriate channels to warn the actual leadership of Belarus about Ukraine’s readiness to defend its territory and independence,” Zelensky stated.

Furthermore, he mentioned that discussions with the military leadership included plans for future Ukrainian operations targeting Russian territory.

President Zelensky has expressed concerns about Russia's attempts to involve Belarus in the conflict, citing military preparations along the border. He emphasized Ukraine's readiness to defend its sovereignty against such threats.
