A member of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was apprehended on May 6 while allegedly accepting a bribe of $34,000. The individual, along with a business associate, is accused of orchestrating a scheme that provided false employment documentation to men seeking to evade military conscription.
According to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, the scheme involved charging approximately $8,500 per individual for these fraudulent services. The men were registered as employees on paper, without any actual work being performed or presence at a workplace.
The investigation was initiated after one potential client reported the scheme to law enforcement. The SBU employee was detained at the moment of receiving the payment.
Authorities are currently determining the appropriate charges and preventive measures for the suspect. Efforts are underway to identify additional individuals involved in the operation.
