Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reiterated warnings regarding a potential large-scale attack by Russia, asserting that intelligence reports indicate preparations for such strikes are ongoing.
In a recent video address, Zelensky stated, “Warnings from intelligence about Russian strikes remain valid. A massive attack may occur—they are preparing for it. Our air defenders are ready 24/7 as much as possible with the supplies available.” This statement underscores the ongoing tension between Ukraine and Russia, particularly in light of recent military developments.
Earlier in the day, during the “Security Architecture 2026” forum, Andriy Yusov, deputy head of the Coordination Staff for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, commented on Russia’s display of readiness for a significant assault. He characterized this as a psychological tactic aimed at exerting pressure on Ukraine. “This is undoubtedly a form of psychological influence—showing readiness for bombardments and then retracting. It is clear that this is the enemy’s tactic—combining military pressure with psychological influence on Ukrainians,” Yusov explained.
In a related development, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, stated that Russia had not conducted strikes on Kyiv over the recent weekend as part of a supposed “truce for Trinity.” Ushakov clarified that this truce applies only to long-range attacks and does not affect frontline operations.
On May 25, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced plans to target “decision-making centers and command points” in Kyiv. The ministry also warned foreign nationals, including diplomatic personnel and representatives of international organizations, to leave Kyiv as soon as possible.
In response, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs assessed that the overall level of security threats from Russia for Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities remains consistent with previous years and months. They described the new Russian threats as nothing more than blatant intimidation.
On May 29, Zelensky referenced intelligence reports indicating that Russia is preparing for a new large-scale attack on Ukrainian territory, further highlighting the ongoing volatility in the region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued warnings about a potential Russian offensive, supported by intelligence reports. Officials describe Russia's military posturing as a psychological tactic aimed at influencing public perception in Ukraine.
