In a significant escalation of military actions, Ukrainian defense units struck several critical sites within Russia, including the Tuapse Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar region, during the night of April 20.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the attack resulted in damage to the facility’s tank farm, leading to a fire at the site.
Local Telegram channels also reported drone strikes targeting both the maritime port and the oil refinery in Tuapse, with eyewitnesses noting a substantial blaze affecting two storage tanks. Regional Governor Veniamin Kondratiev confirmed one fatality and one injury linked to the incident.
The Tuapse Oil Refinery is among the largest in Russia, primarily engaged in the initial processing of crude oil. The facility operates in the Krasnodar region and is managed by RN-Tuapse Refinery LLC. It forms part of a unified production complex alongside the maritime terminal operated by Rosneft, known as RN-Marine Terminal Tuapse, and is integrated within the Rosneft corporate structure.
