The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported 210 combat engagements since the start of the day, indicating a sustained level of military activity across various fronts.
According to the report, the most significant concentration of Russian attacks occurred in the Pokrovsk direction, with 35 assaults aimed at advancing in the vicinity of several populated areas, including Vylne, Kutuzivka, Rodynske, Shevchenko, Novooleksandrivka, Bilytske, Sofiivka, Kucheryv Yar, Zatyshok, Hryshyne, Serhiivka, Udachne, and Novopavlivka. As of now, one engagement is ongoing in this area.
Intense fighting is also reported in the Hulyaipil direction, where 21 Russian attacks were noted near Dobropillia, Novyi Zaporizhzhia, Zlahoda, Rybne, Pryliuky, Zaliznychne, Olenokostiantynivka, Charivne, Rivnopillia, StaroUkrainka, Tsvitkove, Vysokyi Terz and Vozdvizhivka. Currently, three engagements are taking place in this sector.
Combat operations continue across several other fronts, including the Northern Slobozhansky, Kursk, Southern Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Orikhiv, and Dnipro directions.
On May 21, the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) stated that Ukrainian forces are regaining tactical initiative in various areas along the front line. Prior to this, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov noted in a press briefing that Ukraine has significantly slowed the advance of Russian forces and is gradually regaining initiative on the battlefield, attributing this to the efforts of Ukrainian military personnel and other factors, including the disruption of Starlink services for the aggressor and an increase in medium-range drone strikes.
In a video address on May 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asserted that Ukraine currently holds stronger positions on the front lines.
