Ukrainian Drone Loses Control Near Romania Amid Electronic Warfare

A Ukrainian naval drone reportedly lost control due to Russian electronic warfare systems, ending up near the shores of Romania. The incident was confirmed by the press service of the Ukrainian Navy.

The drone was conducting operations in the Black Sea when it became unmanageable, prompting concerns about its trajectory. In response, the Ukrainian Navy provided essential information to Romanian naval authorities to prevent any potential harm to civilians.

On June 5, an explosion occurred in the Romanian port of Constanța, attributed to a drone that reportedly self-destructed around 10:28 AM local time. Fortunately, preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties from this incident.

Earlier, on May 29, during a Russian aerial attack on Ukraine, a drone crashed into a ten-story building in the Romanian city of Galați, igniting a fire and resulting in injuries to two individuals. The Romanian Ministry of Defense stated that the downed drone was of Russian origin, while the Foreign Ministry described the incident as a “serious and irresponsible escalation” by Russia. Following this event, Romanian authorities closed the Russian consulate in Constanța and declared the Russian consul persona non grata.
