On April 21, an explosion involving a grenade in the Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in injuries to five police officers. The incident occurred following an anonymous tip regarding a man exhibiting erratic behavior in the village of Mykolaivka.
According to police reports, the individual was reportedly intoxicated and claimed to possess two grenades. Officers from the Synelnykove district police quickly arrived at the scene to negotiate with the man. During their discussions, he indicated that he had opened a gas line inside a building, posing a significant explosion risk to nearby residents.
In an effort to prevent further escalation and protect civilians, the police initiated an arrest. At that moment, the man threw grenades towards the officers. While one grenade failed to detonate, the other exploded, resulting in injuries.
All five injured officers sustained shrapnel wounds of varying severity and were promptly hospitalized for medical treatment. Among the injured were members of the rapid response team and personnel from the local police station.
Despite their injuries, the police successfully apprehended the suspect, a man born in 1991. Following the explosion, law enforcement officials conducted a search of the area, recovering fragments of grenades and their fuses. Investigators, along with bomb disposal experts, are currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and its legal classification.
