Ukrainian Air Defense Downs 79 Russian Drones Amid Overnight Assault

In the early hours of June 19, the Russian military launched a significant drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 90 strike drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, Bandero, and imitation drones known as Parody. Ukrainian Air Force officials reported that their air defense systems successfully intercepted 79 of these drones.

The assault originated from various locations including Bryansk, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Hvardiske in occupied Crimea. The Ukrainian military’s operations involved aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare divisions, and mobile fire groups.

By 8:30 AM, Ukrainian forces had either shot down or suppressed 79 Russian drones across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country. Reports indicated that nine of the strike drones made contact at eight different sites, with debris falling in several areas.

“The attack is ongoing, and hostile drones remain in the airspace. Please adhere to safety protocols!” the statement warned.

The Ukrainian military successfully neutralized a large-scale drone attack from Russia, intercepting 79 out of 90 drones. This incident underscores the ongoing aerial conflict and the effectiveness of Ukraine's air defense systems.
