Ukraine’s Defense Contact Group to Convene Ahead of NATO Meeting

The next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, known as the ‘Ramstein format,’ is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, prior to the NATO defense ministers’ gathering in Brussels.

Sources informed Suspilne that Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov recently held discussions with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and UK Defense Minister John Healey, as well as NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The talks focused on Ukraine’s priorities leading up to the upcoming Ramstein meeting.

Key areas of discussion included enhancing air defense capabilities, acquiring long-range artillery munitions, and securing funding for the production of Ukrainian drones. These initiatives are seen as critical to bolstering Ukraine’s defense efforts.

The previous Ramstein meeting took place on April 15, where similar topics were addressed.

The upcoming Ramstein meeting will focus on Ukraine's defense priorities, including air defense and long-range artillery. This follows recent discussions among defense leaders from Ukraine, Germany, and the UK.
