Ukrainian officials are deliberating the establishment of a centralized coordination center aimed at streamlining the recruitment of foreign nationals and stateless individuals into the Armed Forces and the National Guard. This initiative seeks to enhance the efficiency of the recruitment process amid ongoing military needs.
According to Kyrylo Budanov, head of the President’s Office, the current recruitment, assessment, and training of foreign contract soldiers are managed by various entities, creating complexities in system management and logistics.
Budanov emphasized the importance of a unified coordination center that would oversee all stages of recruitment—from candidate sourcing and selection to transportation, training, and ongoing support during service in the Armed Forces and National Guard.
Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the President’s Office, noted that specific combat units interested in developing their own training standards might take on some responsibilities for preparing foreign soldiers.
Additionally, discussions during the meeting included the need for translators to improve communication with foreign military personnel.
It is anticipated that by May, proposals for the creation of the relevant unit within the Ministry of Defense will be developed, along with recommendations for enhancing the recruitment system and addressing related legislative matters.
