Ukraine Claims Destruction of Russian Warship and Oil Tankers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on May 3 that Ukrainian forces have successfully destroyed a Russian warship, marking the third such vessel to be targeted in recent operations. This latest incident involved the destruction of a Kalibr missile carrier, alongside a patrol boat and an oil tanker.

The report was confirmed by Yevhen Hmara, the acting head of Ukraine’s Security Service. The operation was a coordinated effort involving multiple Ukrainian defense entities, including the Security Service, drone forces, special operations units, and border guards.

Zelensky stated, “The missile ship ‘Karakurt’ has been hit, as well as a patrol boat and another tanker from the shadow oil fleet. Significant damage has also been inflicted on the infrastructure of the oil loading port. Each of these results limits Russia’s war potential.” He emphasized that these actions are part of a broader response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and villages.

The announcement coincided with the release of a video showing strikes on two vessels belonging to Russia’s clandestine oil fleet near the port of Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar region. This operation highlights Ukraine’s ongoing military strategy to disrupt Russian maritime capabilities and infrastructure.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported the destruction of a Russian Kalibr missile carrier and other vessels, part of a coordinated military operation. This action aims to weaken Russian military capabilities amid ongoing conflict.
