Trump Announces Iran Deal to Open Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a deal with Iran is set to be signed on Sunday, June 14, which will lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for shipping.

In a statement on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump emphasized the significance of the agreement, saying, “The deal is planned to be signed tomorrow, and immediately after its signing, the Strait of Hormuz will be open to all.”

Trump further claimed that Iran has abandoned its pursuit of nuclear weapons, stating, “They no longer want nuclear weapons and will not acquire them—neither through purchase nor development, nor any other means.” He added, “At the appropriate time, when everything calms down, we will enter and retrieve the nuclear dust buried deep under powerful submerged granite mountains, thanks to our beautiful B-2 bombers and their brilliant pilots, and destroy it, whether in Iran or the United States.”

Looking ahead, Trump expressed optimism about future cooperation with Iran and the broader Middle East, hoping for a process that is swift, easy, and unobstructed. He also mentioned that there is a last resort option, which he hopes will never need to be utilized.

On June 13, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif indicated that a ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran could be finalized within 24 hours, paving the way for the reopening of the Strait.

President Trump has announced a forthcoming deal with Iran aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that Iran has renounced its nuclear ambitions. The announcement follows comments from Pakistan's Prime Minister about a potential ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran.
