Reza Pahlavi, the head of the Pahlavi dynasty and a prominent figure in the Iranian opposition, has arrived in Odesa to participate in the Black Sea Security Forum. The event, which commenced on May 29, is set to conclude on May 31 and has attracted a diverse group of politicians, diplomats, military officials, and experts from around the globe.
According to Alexey Goncharenko, the founder and chairman of the Black Sea Security Forum, Pahlavi’s visit underscores the continued activity of the Iranian opposition against the current regime. Pahlavi is the son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, who was forced into exile following the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Since then, he has emerged as a leading voice advocating for political reform in Iran.
“Reza Pahlavi is one of the most recognized figures in the Iranian democratic opposition and actively promotes political changes in Iran,” the statement from the forum noted.
This year’s forum is being held at the Odesa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet and has brought together over 1,200 participants from Ukraine, Europe, the United States, and other regions. The Black Sea Security Forum has been conducted annually for the past three years, focusing on security and diplomatic cooperation in the Black Sea region.
