Power Outages Affect Multiple Regions in Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflicts and Weather Challenges

Recent military actions and targeted strikes on energy facilities have resulted in temporary power outages for consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions of Ukraine. Additionally, adverse weather conditions have caused further disruptions in Kirovohrad and Sumy.

This information was reported on the morning of June 24 by the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo.

Emergency restoration efforts are underway in areas where safety conditions permit.

As of the morning of June 24, severe weather, including thunderstorms and strong winds, has left 20 settlements in Sumy and Kirovohrad either fully or partially without electricity. Repair teams from local energy companies are actively working to restore damaged power lines.

According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption has decreased. As of 09:30 on June 24, consumption was recorded at 4.2% lower than the same time the previous day, June 23. This reduction is attributed to clear weather across Ukraine, which has enhanced the efficiency of residential solar power systems, thereby decreasing reliance on the national grid.

On June 23, the daily peak in electricity consumption occurred in the evening, showing a 1.1% increase compared to the peak on June 22. This rise is linked to a significant increase in temperatures across the country, leading to higher usage of air conditioning units.

Energy officials recommend that consumers shift their energy usage to the hours when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently, specifically between 10:00 and 17:00. They also urge the public to limit the use of high-power electrical devices during the evening hours from 18:00 to 22:00.

Power outages in Ukraine are affecting several regions due to military actions and severe weather. Restoration efforts are ongoing, and energy consumption patterns are shifting due to these challenges.
