Man Arrested After Firing Starter Pistol in Chernihiv

Authorities in Chernihiv apprehended a 23-year-old man on April 19 after he discharged a starter pistol into the air. The incident occurred during the day on a city street, prompting immediate police response.

According to local police, officers received reports of gunfire and swiftly arrived at the scene. They found two men exhibiting signs of intoxication, one of whom had fired several shots from the starter pistol. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The suspect was taken into custody under Article 298-2 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The weapon was confiscated, and police are currently investigating the motives behind the incident.

The prosecution has initiated criminal proceedings based on Article 296, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to hooliganism. Authorities are preparing to issue a formal notice of suspicion as the pre-trial investigation continues.
